Happy Birthday to Our Fearless Leader, Lizette!

Last week, we celebrated the birthday of the amazing woman steering the ship at LMC Express! Lizette, your vision, and unwavering dedication inspire us every day. Thank you for guiding us with strength, wisdom, and a passion that drives everything we do.

Here’s to many more years of success, laughter, and milestones under your remarkable leadership!

Meet the LMC Team - Chantal

Meet Chantal

Chantal started her amazing journey with us in 2011 as a fleet controller. Within a year, she was promoted to fleet supervisor, where she ensured that pallets were loaded and off-loaded properly and that the chiller and freezer temperatures were just right. After four years in fleet, she became our operations manager, expertly handling the Cape Town-Durban-Cape Town-PE route for five years.

When Chantal welcomed her twins, she took on the role of a pallet hunter, which gave her the work-life balance she needed. This role strengthened her bond with clients, as she ensured that trucks were always full. Her constant interaction with clients sparked her interest in sales and marketing, where she has been thriving for the past three years.

Farewell Charmaine

“Having worked with a colleague for more than 27 years says something about both of us. I am not the easiest person in my best days, but Charmaine has always been there to support me.

Charmaine is one of the very few people I trust with both my life and my money. I do not make the statement lightly, but in the 27 years we’ve worked together at LMC Express she did not disappoint me once. She leaves a legacy of utmost loyalty, with never a bad word about any of her colleagues – she is an incredibly rare and special person!” – Lizette Conradie

Petros Deservingly Takes Home the Title of “Best Driver”

Petros Kwinana affectionately known as “The principal”, drives the JHB – PE route. This month he deservingly takes home the title of “Best Driver”, which is determined by the stats pulled from our trusty Mix Telematics system.

Petros has always been a reliable and rule-abiding driver and it is the reason he scores so well on the system. He has been with our company for 9 years and we have been very lucky to have him as part of the team.

Teamwork Makes The Dreamwork

“Behind every successful organization is the team of people who made it happen.’’ This excellent quote from an article by Talent Partners, Executive Search Consultants, aptly describes LMC Express.

As a company with strong teams and passionate employees invested in the organisation, LMC Express has come a long way from just being a transport company.

We are now a proud service provider of part loads/pallet loads in the FMCG industry on all the major routes in RSA.

Traction: Get A Grip On Your Business

At the start of 2023, LMC Express embarked on a new business process improvement project with the help of the book “Traction: Get a grip on your business”. Written by world-renowned business developer Gino Wickman, our leadership team was inspired!

We now gather in person at least 4 times a year to work on improving all our business processes. At these meetings, we work in smaller groups to share ideas and give advice across different departments. It is a time for productivity, innovation and development.

Long Distance Driving by Ayhana Petersen

My name is Ayhana Petersen. One of my main tasks in the operations room at Cape Town Head Office is to interpret the Mix Telematics reports on driver habits. It is always a good idea to combine theory with practical application, hence my decision to join some of our drivers on the open road.

I wanted to gain first-hand experience and observe the technical aspects of driving errors, as reported by the Mix Telematics Report System and to gain a better understanding of the driver’s scores on that route. Additionally, I wanted to engage in a discussion with the driver and learn more about how he felt. Initially, I had the expectation that I would be strictly observing Tyrone driving but our journey soon evolved into many discussions.

Driving Miss Daisy | Lawson Mashanda

Lawson joined our team on 1st October 2017. He says that the working conditions at LMC Express are great, and he praises the management system for their communication skills. “I am happy with LMC Express and with the communication from our route controllers. If I have a problem, the route controllers are always ready to communicate and help. LMC works like a body, and a body cannot function properly without hands and legs.”

Lawson has been driving for ten years. On average he drives about 18,000 km a month. In his opinion, the biggest challenges faced as a long-distance driver in RSA are some of the different personalities on the road, particularly those prone to ‘road rage’ and reckless driving. He takes the stance of being vigilant and anticipates the reactions of other drivers who do not obey the laws of the road so as to avoid unnecessary accidents or incidents.
